I actually started my college career in the Fall of '96 at SMSU (Southwest Missouri State Univ). was a redshirt freshman for SMS Soccer. Flat out, I basically flunked out that semester. Wrong priorities!

In the fall of '98 I went a semester at SBU (Southwest Baptist University). I also did OK. I played soccer there as well. Still not pumped about the whole college thing. Ryan (admin) knows, he was there (not to mention, Natalie, Jeff Britton, Johnson and some others).
Later on, around 2000 or so, I decided to check into going back to college (this time I was serious). I met with a counselor at Drury Univ. and changed my major from Business Admin. to Psychology/Communication (Double Major). I attended semesters kind of off and on for about 4 years. I made all A's and was very focused. But you have to keep in mind that I also got married, had 3 kids, and working full-time. So, this obviously slowed me down.
So, now I am back in the saddle, going back to Drury to finish up my undergrad. I only have about 30 hrs left. I am pumped to get back into the school groove and get this long time goal accomplished. So, if you see me on the Drury campus with a backpack, glasses on, pencil behind my ear, and a stern look of determination, just give me a sign of applaud by clinching your fist together, raising your arm, and sticking that thumb up towards the sky. Good luck as you finish the degree. I really admire you folks with kids, full-time jobs and class. My older son is working on a Masters out of state, working full time and getting ready to be a dad.
I know though when your kids see you walk up on stage and collect that degree, they will be so proud of their dad.
Sheila, thank you very much.
I really appreciate the comment.
Sam, I believe in you. I believe a true commitment is realized when the individual is free to choose and has the drive to pursue his dream. You have learned to change your obstacles into challenges. And, like Arnie, you are the ultimate "I'll be back" man. My thumb will always be "up" for you. Your are my hero!
Great. Thanks a lot for that encouragement.
Sam, it takes someone with vision of
the greater picture to make choices
in his life that reflect not letting
inconvenience or hardships be reasons
for hesitation to move towards achieving personal goals. You got it together and you got the thumbs up!
All you have to worry about is those
young college girls having a crush on the new guy on campus! Watch out.
